Rena graduated from Lockerby Composite High School in 1998. She then moved to London to study sociology at the University of Western Ontario. She graduated from the 4 year honours program with the highest marks and has gotten many many scholarships to continue with her Master's degree in Sociology. Rena had decided to stay at the University of Western to complete her Masters degree. Before she did that, she visited Finland to see where her roots originate. Then she traveled though Sweden to visit relatives, Norway, Denmark and finally Amsterdam. Rena continued her sociological studies in a PhD program overseas beginning in September of 2004. While there, she has had opportunities to travel through Scotland, Wales, England, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Amsterdam, France, Italy, China and Prague.
