I began machine knitting in 1994. I learned as much as I could through manuals, but then I found a discussion list on the internet. This is certainly a great way to learn how to use your knitting machine. I started out with a Brother 260 chunky machine, which is still my very favourite!  By 1996, I was really in need of some actual human input with machine knitting, so I started the Sudbury Machine Knitter's Guild. It has since disbanded after about 7 years since there was little attendance.

I have many of the lessons that I have taught my guild members on my site. Please do click on the red dot on the left of 'Machine Knitting' and a list of all the lessons will appear. I hope you have fun learning these techniques! People all over the world are using these lessons. If you wish to publish them in a newsletter, please ask permission first.

 I am not a hand knitter, and have no ability to read patterns. So, I purchased DAK to help with my designing. I love the way Kaffe Fassett uses color in his designs. You can see from some of my sweaters, that I have tried to do the same.

Here are some pictures of my projects.....the first one is the first hand knitted item I have ever done! I also spun all the yarn for this scarf with the darker spots being spun from my dog's fur!  The rest are all done on my machine without the use of pattern instructions. I make my own patterns.
